The Truth:
The Turaga have decided that now that the Bohrok and the Bohrok-Kal have been defeated, it is time to decide whether the Toa should know the truth about the ones they trust the most.
67. The Truth It is now late at night. All of the Matoran except one are sleeping. That one Matoran is Mataro. The only reason that he is awake is for Nuju. The Turaga are still awake though. Vakama tells the other Turaga, "It is time." The seven of them go and sit on the ground to discuss their future. Onewa says, "Should we really tell them?" Nokama replies, "They may no longer trust us, Vakama." "It is the right thing to do, Nokama. They must know the truth. We have been hiding it for too long." 68. Onewa's Tale: The Mountain "Vakama, let me go first! I will prove why the Toa should never hear what has happened in the past. One day, Kopaka was in the barren wastelands of Mount Ihu. Pohatu walked up and was talking to Kopaka. Kopaka obviously didn't want to be bothered by Pohatu. Kopaka tried to ignore Pohatu. Suddenly, a Muaka attacks them. Since they still don't have their elemental powers yet, they try to outrun the ferocious bull, but the Rahi is too fast. Kopaka is trampled by the Muaka as he is trying to skate down the mountain. Pohatu is still in front of the Rahi, but, suddenly, there comes a crevice, the same crevice that Kopaka had fallen into a couple of days ago. Pohatu, using his great speed, jumps over the crack. Muaka tries to jump over, but, suddenly, out of nowhere comes Kopaka. He strikes the side of the cliff, and it falls down the crack. Kopaka talks to Pohatu from across the cliff. Pohatu says, "Thanks! Is there any way I can repay you, brother?" "That won't be necessary. The best you can do is just to leave me alone next time." Kopaka then leaves." 69. Whenua's Tale: Those who Forget The Past Whenua speaks up. He says, "What? Kopaka not getting along with others is supposed to be our determining factor? Kopaka doesn't get along with anybody! Those who forget the past shall never know their future. Let me tell my story now. I had told Onua that we were to go on a journey. We went deep into Onu Wahi where none had been in a long time. There was said to be a mask down there that Onua needed. It was a Kakama Nuva, the Mask of Underwater Breathing. Suddenly, a creature made of rocks attacked us. It was a very mysterious creature. The last time one like it had attacked Onua, he was able to destroy it. But, this one looked like the king of them all. Without Onua's powers to aid us, we were helpless to its attacks. Only Onua's great strength could save us. Onua threw one of his strongest punches at the creature. But, since it was made of nothing but rock, there was not even a crack. I said for Onua to run and get the Kakama Nuva and then escape out of here. Onua is able to get the mask and the two of us escaped, using his new powers. Onua punches the ceiling with all of his strength, and it causes a cave in, which not only traps the creature but also probably killed it. 70. Matau's Tale: The Trap Matau says, "Whenua, that was an excellent story. But, still, the Toa Nuva don't even trust one another, as in my tale. Nuhvok-Kal had been sent to Le-Koro by the others to prevent the Toa from finding their masks. He rather disliked this job, for it was boring, compared to the others, such as trying to find the Bahrag queens or beating up the Toa. Tahu and Lewa were also in Le-Koro, following Nuhvok-Kal. They did not know how to stop the Bohrok-Kal. Suddenly, Lewa thought of a plan. Tahu had been shy around Lewa ever since he had been taken over by the Krana. Lewa said, "I think I know how to stop Nuhvok-Kal. " "How, Lewa?" Tahu replied. Lewa answered, "Just like the snakes of Le-Koro would stop a Nui-Jaga. " So, they journey to the village. Lewa tells all the Le-Matoran that they are going to be able to take revenge on the Bohrok for what they did by attacking Nuhvok-Kal. So, Lewa tells them the plan. Le-Matoran take all the nets that they have and station themselves in the trees. Even myself participates. When Nuhvok-Kal approaches all of the Le-Matoran throw their nets over him. They manage to trap Nuhvok-Kal, but before we could get down there, he escaped. The Toa Nuva were able to get their masks though. Tahu trusted Lewa and trusted feels sort of bad about the way had been treating Lewa, so he lets him in on a secret. The secret is that at one point he was also controlled by the Krana, but he was able to get it off by himself." 71. Nokama's Tale: Beneath the Surface Now Nokama speaks up. "Matau, in your tale, Tahu didn't trust Lewa. But, after his great plan Tahu began to trust Lewa again. So, you really can't hold that against him. Listen to my story. Gali and I one day got in a boat alone. We sailed across Lake Naho. When we got about halfway out, the two of us dived into the water and into an underwater cave. There was a pocket of air down there. I told Gali that there was only one way out and that she must use her head to find it. I left her and sealed the cave. Then, I swam back to our boat. Gali was trapped down there. She knew there was a mask down there of speed. She went to find it, but on the way, she saw a picture. The picture had on it six Toa. They didn't really look like the Toa Nuva. And, one sort of reminded her of me. After a good look at that picture, she decided to keep on going. She eventually found the Mask of Speed, but what was she to do with it? She thought of an idea that might just work. She started from that end of the tunnel and she ran with the Mask of Speed on, straight through the door. Then, she swam back up to our boat. She asked me if I was once a Toa, but I didn't answer." 72. Nuju's Tale: Place of Shadows Nuju starts to speak in his language. Mataro translated for him, and said, "It is now time to tell my story. One day, Gali had called Tahu and Lewa to come and help her find some masks. She told them that there were three masks down there, in the location that they all feared. They went down to find the masks. These were the final three masks that the Toa had to find. When they were down there, there was a cave in. They tried to outrun the rocks falling down from the ceiling. They were eventually to, but then they saw a most dreadful sight: a Rahi like no other! It had the head of a Ka-Nara, the punching arms of a Tara-Kava, a tail like a Nui-Jaga, and wings like Nui-Rama. Suddenly, from out of nowhere came Vakama and the other Toa." Suddenly, Nuju and Mataro are interrupted by Vakama. Vakama says, "We both know the tale, let me finish it." 73. Vakama's Tale: Secrets Vakama continued speaking. "The fearsome Rahi was called The Rahi-Nui and it was bred by Makuta for the sole purpose of destroying Toa. It had no infected masks because it already hated Toa from the last battle against them. It recognized me and charged after me. But, I used my mask to become invisible. The Toa surrounded it and used Pohatu's mask power and Lewa's mask power to create practically a tornado around it. But it wasn't enough. It was able to defeat the Toa. I told the Toa as I became visible once more that it would chase me and that once I got it to the corner, they could trap it. I did the best I could to get it into the corner, and suddenly I became invisible and ran back out by the Toa. They trapped it and we got our masks and returned to the surface. Gali asked me how I knew it would come after me. I told her that she will find out another day." Now that his tale was over, it was time to decide whether the Toa should know the truth. The Turaga decided to hold a great Kohli tournament, and that after the Kohli tournament they would tell the story of a long forgotten island and its heroes.
